           Breakfast with the Mayor will be on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 at Log Cabin City Hall from 10:00am to 11:00am!!! Breakfast has graciously been donated potluck style by several citizens! We hope to see you there!

            The City of Log Cabin is excited to celebrate another Thanksgiving with the residents of Log Cabin, Caney City, Star Harbor, and other area neighbors on Saturday, Nov. 8th, 2025 at 11am, at the Red Barn! Drinks, turkey, and ham will be provided by the City Council. Citizens are asked to bring a side dish with them. Please be sure to bring a list of ingredients with your dish, which will be displayed.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           City of Log Cabin to raise water/wastewater and select park rates in new fiscal year.
          &#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           On Sept. 18th, 2025 the Log Cabin City Council approved a rate increase for water and wastewater services to support the maintenance, operations, and improvements of both systems, (the new rates became effective on Oct. 1st, 2025 (November bill)) and rate increases for Seasonal Park Passes, Boat Launch Fees, and RV/Tent Site Rentals to support the maintenance, operations, and improvements of the Log Cabin City Park. Changes are noted below:

           City Wide Clean Up on October 24 &amp;amp; 25, 2025

            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on October 24th (9:00am to 4:00pm) or 25th (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2025. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Residents will be required to off load their vehicles or trailers either into the dumpster or to an area designated by City staff/volunteers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pickups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers. Please sign up by October 22nd by contacting City Hall at 903-489-2195 or citysecretary@logcabin.texas.gov.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            Residents will also be able to register their pets for 2026 during the event! Pet registration is required each January for $10.00 pet pet, valid rabies certificate is required.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

            The Log Cabin Parks Committee has been hard at work organizing this year's Halloween Festival! This annual event is open to the public and FREE. Full of games, activities, and prizes, the festival provides a family friendly Halloween thrill! In addition to the costume contest, there will be an Adopt-A-Booth contest and Yard Decorating contest.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            For the Adopt-A-Booth contest, participants will decorate and man their own activity booth at the festival! For those that don't want to decorate, but would like to still participate, they can volunteer to man a booth provided by the Committee. Prizes will be award to the top three booths. Candy will be furnished by the Committee to hand out.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

      <title>Public Notice to Boil Water Till Further Notice</title>

            In leu of construction starting this evening on the water lines, we will issue a boil water notice until samples pass, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system City of Log Cabin Water Company PWS ID #TX 1070121 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

      <title>Vacant Council Seat Filled by Appointment</title>

          The Log Cabin City Council announced the vacant seat on the City Council on May 13th, 2025 at a special Council meeting to canvass the May 3rd, 2025 General and Special Election, with no candidate having filed for the unexpired 1-year term during the candidate filing period in January.
          &#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            Two individuals stepped forward expressing interest in the Council seat, but one withdrew their application. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    
          The City Council interviewed Rick Robertson at a Council Workshop on June 4th, 2025, and appointed him at the Regular Council meeting on June 19th, 2025 to the City Council vacant seat, term ending May 2026. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Rick Robertson received his Certificate of Appointment and was sworn in that night and assumed his duties. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div&gt;&#xD;

           Monday, June 2nd by 5pm.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            At the May Regular City Council meeting on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, Leara Thorp, City Secretary reviewed the May 3rd, 2025 General &amp;amp; Special Elections results (as canvassed at the May 13th, 2025 Special Council Meeting), then presented Mayor Jennifer Williams and Councilmembers Bill Sims and Randy Page certificates of appreciation for their service on City Council. Councilmember Randy Page was not present at the meeting. At that time, Mayor Williams presented Certificates of Elections to the newly elected officials; Paul Eckeberger (Mayor), Brian LaFlower and Roy Linder (Councilmembers). After the newly elected officials were sworn in, they began their work as Councilmembers. Mayor Eckeberger announced that there is a vacancy on the Council for a 1-year unexpired term, as part of the May 3rd, 2025 General Election.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In accordance with Texas Local Government Code 22.010, the City Council will fill the vacancy on Council by appointment. If you are interested in serving on the Log Cabin City Council, applications will be are now available at City Hall.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            The City Council meets for regular meetings the third Thursday of each month at 7pm, and as needed for special meetings and workshops.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           All candidates for office in the City of Log Cabin must meet the following qualifications to serve on the City Council:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Per Texas Elections Code Section 141.001
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (1) be a United States citizen;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (2) be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (3) have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (A) totally mentally incapacitated; or
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (B) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (4) have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (5) have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (A) for a candidate whose name is to appear on a general primary election ballot, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (B) for an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (C) for a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (D) for a party nominee who is nominated by any method other than by primary election, the date the nomination is made; and

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (E) for an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;
          &#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (6) on the date described by Subdivision (5), be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected; and
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (7) satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.

            The Log Cabin City Council approved updates to the City's trash hauling agreement at the February Regular City Council Meeting. As part of the updates, each residential customer will receive one Republic 95-gallon trash cart, included in their cost for trash services ($19.00 per month currently). Trash will only be picked up if it is in the Republic trash bin and must be bagged inside of the cart. Customers are directed to make sure their trash is placed on the curb by 7am on Tuesdays; Republic has until 6pm to finish the route. Customers can request additional carts (up to 2 additional carts per home) for $6.24 for each cart per month. If a cart is lost or stolen, there is a $50.00 replacement fee per occurrence. Carts are scheduled to be delivered next week (week of May 5th). 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            There will also be bulk pickup (up to 3 cubic yards) on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning on May 13th, 2025, also included in the customer's cost of trash services ($19.00) per month currently.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

            At the April 17th, 2025, City Council meeting, Ben Pate, Lisa Holmes, and Jennifer Browning of Caring for America in Henderson County presented information regarding the mission of their organization, which is to support first responders and veterans, and the Purple Heart City initiative. Mayor Williams read a proclamation aloud declaring the City of Log Cabin to be a Purple Heart City. The City of Log Cabin appreciates the men and women who have served in our nation's armed forces, and want to especially recognize our Purple Heart recipients.

            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on April 25th (9:00am to 4:00pm) and 26th (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2025. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Residents will be required to off load their vehicles or trailers either into the dumpster or to an area designated by City staff/volunteers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pickups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers. Please sign up by April 23rd by contacting City Hall.

           The Parks Committee is pleased to help kick start the holiday season with Log Cabin Christmas &amp;amp; Market on Saturday, Dec. 14th, 2024 at the Red Barn. This year this holiday event will feature a Christmas Market with local vendors from 9am to 5pm, including food trucks! Dippin' Dots Ice Cream will also be available for sale. Come get a picture with Santa and the Grinch, then decorate your own cookie and/or ornament, and play games. Attendees will also get the chance to vote in the Yard Decorating Contest! This event is open to everyone! Hope to see you there!

      <title>Vacant Seats Filled by Appointment</title>

          The Log Cabin City Council announced the vacant seats on the Council and Planning &amp;amp; Zoning Commission (P&amp;amp;Z) on August 8th, 2024, at a special Council meeting, after accepting the resignation of Teena Linder from City Council and the P&amp;amp;Z. Interested persons for either seat was asked to reach out to the City. Two individuals stepped forward expressing interest in the Council seat; Chris Martin and Paul Eckeberger. Three people volunteered for the P&amp;amp;Z seat; Chris Martin, Joe Clark, and Dave Peterson. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    
          At the October 3rd, 2024 Special City Council meeting, the City Council appointed Paul Eckeberger to the City Council vacant seat, term ending May 2025, and accepted the P&amp;amp;Z's nomination for Dave Peterson to fill the Commission's vacant seat via Resolution 24-15. 
         &#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    
          Paul Eckeberger received his Certificate of Appointment and was sworn in at the October 17th, 2024 Regular City Council Meeting, and submitted a resignation letter from the Planning and Zoning Commission. Council appointed Joe Clark to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Eckeberger's resignation on the Planning and Zoning Commission via Resolution 24-19.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on October 25th (9:00am to 4:00pm) or 26th (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2024. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Residents will be required to off load their vehicles or trailers either into the dumpster or to an area designated by City staff/volunteers.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pickups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers. Please sign up by October 23rd by contacting City Hall.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           Halloween Festival Oct. 12th, 2024 at 2-4pm at the Red Barn!
          &#xD;

&lt;div&gt;&#xD;

            The Log Cabin Parks Committee has been hard at work organizing this year's Halloween Festival! This annual event is open to the public and FREE. Full of games, activities, and prizes, the festival provides a family friendly Halloween thrill! In addition to the costume contest, there will be an Adopt-A-Booth contest and Yard Decorating contest.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            For the Adopt-A-Booth contest, participants will decorate and man their own activity booth at the festival! For those that don't want to decorate, but would like to still participate, they can volunteer to man a booth provided by the Committee. Prizes will be award to the top three booths. Candy will be furnished by the Committee to hand out.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Councilmember Teena Linder, elected in May of 2024, has submitted a letter of resignation from the City Council and Planning &amp;amp; Zoning Commission on July 31st, 2024, which became effective on August 8th, 2024. In accordance with Texas Local Government Code 22.010, the City Council will fill the vacancy on Council by appointment. If you are interested in serving on the Log Cabin City Council, applications will be available at City Hall beginning on Monday, August 12th, 2024.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The City Council meets for regular meetings the third Thursday of each month at 7pm, and as needed for special meetings and workshops.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           All candidates for office in the City of Log Cabin must meet the following qualifications to serve on the City Council:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Per Texas Elections Code Section 141.001
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (1) be a United States citizen;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (2) be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (3) have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (A) totally mentally incapacitated; or
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (B) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (4) have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (5) have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (A) for a candidate whose name is to appear on a general primary election ballot, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (B) for an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate's application for a place on the ballot;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (C) for a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate's name is written in;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (D) for a party nominee who is nominated by any method other than by primary election, the date the nomination is made; and
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (E) for an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (6) on the date described by Subdivision (5), be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected; and
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           (7) satisfy any other eligibility requirements prescribed by law for the office.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The vacancy on the Planning &amp;amp; Zoning Commission will also be filled by City Council approved appointment. If you would like to serve on the Commission, please contact City Hall at 903-489-2195 or citysecretary@logcabin.texas.gov, or attend the meeting scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12th, 2024 at 7pm. The P&amp;amp;Z Commission meets for regular meetings the second Thursday of each month at 7pm, and as needed for special meetings and workshops.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            As a result of the damage caused by the weather on May 25th, 2024, the City of Log Cabin sustained damages to include loss of power, downed lines, blocked roads, etc. The City Park is closed until further notice for the safety and health of the public. City Personnel, Law Enforcement, and local Fire Departments are responding. The City has been in contact with TVEC and Henderson County Precinct 1 and Henderson County Emergency Management for assistance.

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           Citizens are encouraged to report damages through the TDEM iSTAT tool. The survey aids emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that have occurred and help officials determine if the state meets federal requirements for various forms of disaster assistance, as well as identify any immediate resource needs. “By providing details through the iSTAT damage survey, Texans can notify emergency management officials about the extent of damage sustained during this severe weather event,” said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. “Texans are encouraged to assist the damage assessment process by uploading photos and including important details about any losses.”

            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on April 19th (9:00am to 4:00pm) or 20th (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2024. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
           
                      &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Residents will be required to off load their vehicles or trailers either into the dumpster or to an area designated by City staff/volunteers.
          
                    &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

            Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pickups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers. Please sign up by April 17th by contacting City Hall.

            The Log Cabin Parks Committee has been hard at work organizing this year's Halloween Festival! This annual event is open to the public and FREE. Full of games, activities, and prizes, the festival provides a family friendly Halloween thrill! In addition to the costume contest, there will be an Adopt-A-Booth contest and Yard Decorating contest.
           
                      &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
                        
            For the Adopt-A-Booth contest, participants will decorate and man their own activity booth at the festival! For those that don't want to decorate, but would like to still participate, they can volunteer to man a booth provided by the Committee. Prizes will be award to the top three booths. Candy will be furnished by the Committee to hand out.

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

          On 09/10/2023 the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Log Cabin public water system, 1070121, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;b&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/b&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    
                    
          The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of 9/15/2023.

            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on October 13th (9:00am to 4:00pm) or 14th (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2023. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include: Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
                      
           Residents will be required to off load their vehicles or trailers either into the dumpster or to an area designated by City staff/volunteers.

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pickups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers.

          Due to a water line break and repair, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system City of Log Cabin Water Company PWS ID #TX 1070121 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
         
                  &#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    
                    
          To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
         
                  &#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           The de minimis rate is the rate equal to the sum of the no-new-revenue maintenance and operations rate for the City of Log Cabin, the rate that will raise $500,000, and the current debt rate for the City of Log Cabin.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that the City of Log Cabin is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2023 tax year.

      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           To keep up with inflation and the increasing costs of maintaining and improving the water and wastewater systems of Log Cabin, rates will be increasing, effective Oct. 1

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           , 2023 (November bill).  The proposed new rates will allow the City to better care for the system and will also increase the likelihood of receiving funding from other sources because the City will be better able to financially care for the future improvements.            For the sewer rate, it is recommended to keep the $45.00 sewer base rate the same and add a fee of $5.39 per thousand gallons. Usage will be determined by the water meter. Meters will not be installed for the sewer.

            As we all get ready to celebrate our nation's Independence Day, it is important to remembering that the discharge of fireworks is prohibited by Ordinance 7 and may result in fines. There is an exception to this however!

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

            Each year, City Council may, by Resolution, opt to allow fireworks to be discharged under the supervision of the Log Cabin Police and Volunteer Fire Department. Sign up, agreement of terms, and inspection of fireworks is required. Space is limited and all participants are expected to clean up after themselves.

            Residents of Log Cabin will be able to bring their trash to the City Wide Clean Up on July 21st (9:00am to 4:00pm) or 22nd (8:00 to 3:00pm or until full), 2023. Proof of residency is required. Items not accepted include: Asbestos, batteries, brush, tree trimmings, yard waste, hazardous waste, oils, liquid paints, medical waste, whole tires with rims, and appliances containing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
           
                      &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
                        
            Pick up service may be available for households without an abled-bodied person. Sign up is required for this service. Only items on the curbside will be picked up; volunteers/employees are prohibited from entering a residence or property to pick up items. Pick ups may be denied if there is a safety/health concern of it there is a lack of volunteers.

           City Hall to close for Staff Development

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            City Hall will be closed to the public beginning Monday, June 26th, and will resume normal business hours on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023. (City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 in observance of Independence Day). This closure is to give City Staff dedicated time to update City Hall's filing organization/retention, and other small projects with the intent of being better able to serve citizens. We understand that this type of closure can cause an inconvenience to the City and appreciate your patience and support.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

            It’s safe to say that with the way the economy is going, we are all concerned about saving money, especially tax payer dollars. An easy way to do that, and to promote the safety and health of the water/sewer system, is to be mindful of what is flushed or put down the drains. Please do not flush or put down the drains needles, medications, paper or cloth towels, kitchen grease/oil, diapers, plastic, etc.

           City employees and contractors have recently seen just about all of those in the sewer system the last few weeks, and it causes a hazard to the system and the employees, which ultimately impacts the costs of maintaining and operating the system. This project has been a labor of love and only happened through the support and effort of so many. Before we dig into a review of all the new features of the site, we want to thank Lindsay Vanderbilt and Mintie Betts of the

We also want to thank our City Council, citizens, and city staff for expressing their input and needs to make this site into something that is user-friendly and informative.
